What I Wore: The British Museum

For my mum’s birthday, my brother and I spent the day with her in London visiting the British Museum and eating yummy food. I love visiting London, but there’s never enough time to do all the things I want to do and see all the people I want to see! For sightseeing, I wore this maxi dress for the first time. I love how 90s the straps are, and although I wasn’t too keen on the shape to start off with, now I love it, it’s so summery.

At the British Museum, we saw the Pompeii exhibition. It was good, but also very morbid and sad learning about the volcanic eruption. The building of the museum is beautiful, both inside and out, I could stare at the ceiling for ages.

This floppy hat is one I’ve had for a while, but it’s been serving me well! It’s nice and heavy so it doesn’t lose it’s shape when it gets shoved in my bag when I go inside – I’m not that old-fashioned but it feels so weird to wear a hat indoors! Whilst in London we went for a delicious lunch at a Turkish restaurant, and look at how gorgeous the ceiling was!

  1. The British Museum is my favourite out of the London Museums followed closely by the V&A. There are always so many people there though – even early in the morning! Did you see the mummies? I’m always fascinated by the one which has each of his toes and fingers individually bound rather than wrapped in one big sock / mitten. lol okay TMI XD

    • We didn’t have time to see other exhibitions, but I have seen the mummies before and they are my favourite! I find it crazy that they are real thousand year old dead people that are just sitting in a glass box. I half expect them to come back alive again and start chasing people!

  2. Hello, thanks so much for stopping by my blog and saying hello!
I’ve been in there, too, and really enjoyed myself!
    Love your hat!

    Have a great day,

  3. Such a gorgeous and simple summer outfit! I like the hat, although I agree I sometimes feel a little strange wearing them indoors. Hopefully hats will get more “normal” as an everyday thing haha. I do love them!

  4. Haha those straps are SO nineties! Love them. Didn’t even know there was a Pompeii exhibition on but I will check it out as I am fascinated by volcanos. I love the british museum and actually used the ceiling extensively in my GCSE art project (which was based around “structure” and was my highest ever marked exam at 100%. still proud) glad you had such a good day xXXx

  5. Jess you look amazing as always. I love the nearly halter neck (or is it actually halterneck?) And I agree with Sadie, that lipstick does really suit you!
Would you mind if I did a post on how much I love how you dress that used your photos? I will credit them to you or/and the photographer and link to here!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I love reading your thoughts :)
