New Years Resolutions

2014 resolutions
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! I genuinely watched a documentary from 2010 today and thought “oh, it’s only two years old.” How was 2010 now four years ago?!? I’m very excited for the new year, and I thought I’d share some of my plans and goals with you.

Improve my blog. This is something I’m always trying to do, but the new year gives me some extra motivation. I want to get better at photography (it’s soo much harder than it looks!) and redesign my blog layout (I know how I want it to look, I’m just not sure how to achieve it. I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time!)
Read more. At the moment, I only read books on holiday, and there are so many books I want to read! Even if I just start reading on Sundays or for fifteen minutes before bed, that would be an improvement.
Sew more. I was really pleased with the sewing I did last year and I want to build on that this year. I have so many ideas, but dungarees and a midi skater skirt are high on the list!
Run regularly. Again, I was pleased with the running that I did last year but I want to improve on that this year and make running a part of my routine. I’ve learnt that my biggest problem is being over-ambitious. it’s better for me to do a slow short run twice a week than to run too much and injure myself!

I aim to get accepted into a Masters programme to start in September.
I am to spend the first half of the year working hard to raise money for my degree and for travelling.
I aim to spend a month or two of summer travelling. I’d love to assist in wildlife conservation – the plight of African elephants is particularly concerning. James and I would also love to see Berlin and India, so they’re (very exciting) possibilities!

Do you have any goals and resolutions for 2014? I’d love to hear them. I have a feeling 2014 is going to be a good year 🙂

  1. That’s a lot of big goals! Chip away at all of them and I bet you can make a lot of progress! I think it’s great that your education factors in so prominently.

  2. I can’t believe 2010 is that long ago! I don’t make any life changing resolutions at the beginning of a new year, I always get depressed by the word resolutions and they make me feel that I didn’t do well enough the previous year. So I always aim to read more and visit more museums. I hope activities like this will get me motivated and inspired to do more ‘important’ things. I guess this might sound a but silly.

  3. Thanks for leaving such a darling comment on my blog!
Super resolutions and goals – I’m sure you can achieve all of them! Happy 2014!!

    Have the best day ever,

  4. Hey Jess! If you want any help on the blog layout, I’ve got some rusty (but okay) html/css skills from my days of building websites/blogging properly. I’m probably better at hacking a theme you almost-but-not-quite like than building one from scratch, but if you need a hand or pointer, just ask. Hope your new year is going well so far!

  5. These are SUCH great resolutions! A lot are very similar to things I want to achieve. Zack and I are thinking we’ll do a resolutions post this next week, so look for that for more specifics, but I’m definitely wanting to focus on my mental and physical health for 2014. I’m 100% with you on not pushing the running too hard – I did, and now I’m down for the count with a knee injury for the next two weeks. Better to build slowly and stay well. ❤

  6. Just blogging my life away at Foggy Dress was last year’s resolution, and it’s this year’s too! On top of being more organized! Cheers to us and 2014 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I love reading your thoughts :)
