The Easter Bunny

Happy Easter from me and the Easter Bunny! I hope you’re having a wonderful long weekend filled with family, hot cross buns, chocolate and easter egg hunts. I loved taking these photos of Archie, although he is not the most cooperative model. In most of my photos he’s licking the camera lens! I’m very excited because Archie has a date with a lady bunny from the RSPCA this week. Fingers crossed they like each other, and we can bring her home! I haven’t posted on here for 5 days and although it doesn’t sound very long, it feels like I’ve been away for a long time. I have lots planned for the blog next week though, so stay tuned 🙂

A Day In The Life Of Archie

Hi everyone, it’s Archie the bunny here. Since I am clearly the best thing about this blog, I thought it was about time there was a post dedicated to me! If you don’t enjoy pictures of bunny rabbits, look away now! For all you nosy readers, here’s a peek into my world 🙂

Jessthetics / A day in the life of Archie

I spend the night-time snoozing away in this comfy hutch, which is in my shed in the garden. When my lazy humans finally wake up they open the shed door and I bound out, excited to explore the garden again!

Jessthetics / A day in the life of Archie

I like to spend a little time every day hiding under bushes and spying on the birds. It’s my garden and I like to make sure they’re not messing it up when my back’s turned.

I then go for a spot of lunch. Yum, I love grass!

Sometimes these big noisy metal things drive down the road. This scares me, so I listen out for danger and thump my foot to warn the humans!

I love being in the house but those silly humans say things like “stay outside and eat some grass, it’ll be good for you.” Phh, what do they know. I spend a lot of my time running up to the door hopefully.

It’s okay though, because if I look sad someone will take pity on me and stroke me between the ears. I like to stick my bum in the air when I’m being stroked, it’s like bunny yoga.

At last, an open door! I’d better make a run for it before someone sees me sneaking in!

In the evening someone will feed me parsley. I have a parsley obsession right now – there’s no such thing as too much parsley!

Jessthetics / A day in the life of Archie

All that eating was tiring, it’s time for a nap I think.

Now I’m rested I can go exploring! Eating cables and bouncing on beds are my favourite things to do.

Jessthetics / A day in the life of ArchieJust as I’m waking up, someone tells me it’s time for bed! After a couple of cuddles I’m feeling rather snoozy again. Night night everyone!

And thank you Ralphie for the inspiration. You are a handsome bunny,   I think we would be friends.

Archie Embroidery

It was my Dad’s birthday at the start of the month, and he is so difficult to buy for. Instead of buying him something he doesn’t want or need, I decided to stitch a picture of our bunny Archie for him. It was a time-consuming project but not a difficult one. If you like the idea you could follow these steps to make an embroidered picture of anything – but pictures of pets are the best!

I looked for some embroidery inspiration online and most patterns used solid stitching for the whole picture. I prefer embroidery that looks more like a drawing than a painting (if that makes sense!), so I stitched most of Archie using the spaced out stitches that you can see. I think it makes him look fluffy, and this method is much quicker! I just did some occasional solid stitching to emphasise his features.

You will need:
Embroidery Hoop
Embroidery Needle
Embroidery Floss ( I used black, white, light grey, dark grey, light orange and dark orange. It’s nice to have some different shades of the same colour.)

Step 1: Sketch out your design onto paper. Then put your linen in the embroidery hoop and pull tight (if you’re new to embroidery, check out these embroidery basics by Wild Olive for help!) Transfer your pattern onto the linen.

Step 2: Start filling in the pattern using these randomly spaced stitches. I made sure my stitches went in the same direction as Archie’s fur. I overlapped the colours a little and made sure the stitches were shorter where his fur is shorter.

Step 3: Fill in prominent features with solid stitching! Archie’s eye, nose, the inside of his ears, and his tail are all filled in with solid stitching. I also stitched a line around his four feet, his ears and his nose for emphasis.

Step 4: Add some tone! At this point, I used my dark grey and dark orange floss to bring the picture alive. Right at the end, I also stitched his whiskers.

Step 5: Cut the linen an inch or two away from the embroidery hoop, and glue to the back of the hoop (I used my glue gun for this.) This way, the embroidery hoop becomes the frame for the picture.

What do you think? Have you ever stitched a picture?

What I Wore: As If!

As soon as I saw this dress I thought of the 90s, and more specifically, Clueless! Congratulations if you picked up on the Clueless phrase in the title. It’s one of my favourite films, and the wardrobe is incredible! If I ever see a plaid yellow skirt suit, I will absolutely be buying it. I still want a computer to help me pick out what to wear in the mornings like Cher’s. I found this dress on sale for £1 and me and Chelsea liked it so much we bought one each. My makeup today is Buffy inspired (another 90s classic.) I hope you like bunnies because there’s a lot of Archie photo bombing in this post.

I’ve had these boots for a couple of years, and they’re the perfect everyday heel height! Too bad they’re suede, and suede and rain don’t go together, so I haven’t been able to wear them much of late.

I hope your week’s off to a good start 🙂

What I Wore: Pastels and Purple

I have had this dress for a while. I love the long slit down the side and I think the pastel patterns is kind of unusual, but it feels too dressy for every day, so I’ve been wearing it with this t-shirt over the top! I’m also still wearing my new Kate Moss Rimmel purple lipstick, although food and this lipstick do not go well together. I have a feeling my purple / dark red lipstick collection might grow over the next few months – I love wearing a super dark lipstick with an otherwise quite girly outfit.

I bought it at The Vagabond Bazaar in York last summer – unfortunately I’m struggling to find out the name of the company that I bought it from. I love the length, and I’d love to get some more necklaces so that I can start layering them – I’ve been eyeing up some of the pendants on the WAISTE website!

I couldn’t help but include this photos of Archie. It’s a special day when he stays still for long enough to have his photo taken. Hanging out with this bunny is one of the best parts of my day ❤

I hope your week is off to a good start!

Santa and his rabbit.

Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to watch less telly, eat less chocolate, and write some essays. I’d much rather be eating nut roast and not writing essays!  I was lucky enough to get lots of lovely presents for Christmas, but my favourite has to be my new camera. I have been taking lots of pictures, and here’s a few Christmas pictures of decorations and my bunny.

I can’t wait to keep practising taking pictures, and hopefully I’ll improve! I hope you all are in a relaxing post-christmas haze.
