We had some lovely weather last week so James and I took the opportunity to go for a walk and a picnic lunch in Bradgate Park. I’m wearing my new trousers from People Tree! I just love the pattern and the high waist – they’re so summery! They were too small for my calves, and I knew that the size up wouldn’t fit my waist, so I sewed splits into the back of each trouser leg, and now they’re the perfect fit. All of People Tree’s clothes are sustainable and fair trade, so I always feel good about buying from them. I found these sunglasses in a vintage shop in Southampton and they’re so funky. This summer I don’t think I’ll be leaving the house without a pair of colourful round sunglasses. They remind me of the 90s and the 70s at the same time, and what could be better!?

This clutch bag is also from People Tree! It’s made from a recycled sari which is pretty cool, and I love the pattern on mine. The clutch is bigger than I expected it to be – my huge phone fits inside, and I wasn’t sure that it would! I look forward to being invited to lots of summery parties so that I can take my bag. My shoes are new too. I really need to buy a sensible pair of shoes. These purple ones aren’t very high so they almost count. I love the colour, they’re the perfect height and the postage was free!
I hope your week is off to a beautiful start 🙂
Since starting my new job I don’t wear anything interesting Monday to Friday. I’ve given up wearing make-up to work, I have to be able to cycle in what I’m wearing (I’m not one of those crazy people who can cycle in heels!) I want to look smart-ish and if I’m honest, I don’t want to stand out in the office too much! This means that the weekend is my chance to experiment with my clothes. I bought this gilet from ASOS in the January sales and it is so boho and warm – two of my favourite properties in an item of clothing! My mum thinks it looks like a carpet but I think I look like a rock star. It’s perfect for lazy Sunday afternoons when I want to feel good and be comfy, and this is an outfit I’ve been wearing on repeat for months. I picked up this dress in the Salvation Army in Durham (one of my favourite charity shops!) and my shoes are a trusty ebay vintage find that I’ve been wearing for years.

I love this crystal necklace, it’s such a pretty colour and it’s so dainty! I’m working on increasing my pendant collection, I might even start layering them soon! You can win a version of this necklace, along with lots of other goodies, in my giveaway!
I have had this dress for a while. I love the long slit down the side and I think the pastel patterns is kind of unusual, but it feels too dressy for every day, so I’ve been wearing it with this t-shirt over the top! I’m also still wearing my new Kate Moss Rimmel purple lipstick, although food and this lipstick do not go well together. I have a feeling my purple / dark red lipstick collection might grow over the next few months – I love wearing a super dark lipstick with an otherwise quite girly outfit.
Isn’t my necklace cute? I bought it at The Vagabond Bazaar in York last summer – unfortunately I’m struggling to find out the name of the company that I bought it from. I love the length, and I’d love to get some more necklaces so that I can start layering them – I’ve been eyeing up some of the pendants on the WAISTE website!

I couldn’t help but include this photos of Archie. It’s a special day when he stays still for long enough to have his photo taken. Hanging out with this bunny is one of the best parts of my day ❤
I hope your week is off to a good start!
Those of you paying attention may or may not have noticed that I have skipped out a day of Paris photos. That’s because we spent day 3 in Paris at Rock en Seine! We went because Nine Inch Nails were playing, but also had a blast watching Fauve, La Femme, In the Valley Below and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. All of my photos from day 3 (also known as the day we spent 40 euros each on beer… festival beer is expensive!) look like this:
On day 4, we had the most amazing falafel lunch and then we went to the Pompidou Center! I love this gallery, it has so much modern and contemporary art. The videos are some of my favourite, although most of them are in french so I have no idea what they’re saying.
I actually bought this skirt for 5 euros in Paris when we went vintage shopping! I wasn’t sure about it, but now I don’t know why because it’s patterned, blue, and high-waisted enough to wear with crop tops. Everything I look for in a skirt! Autumn this year also makes me want to wear purple lipstick all the time. I’m wearing a Kate Moss for Rimmel lipstick, and I love how dark it is although it’s quite high maintenance.
After the Pompidou Center, we had dinner at the Gentle Gourmet Cafe – there aren’t many vegetarian restaurants in Paris but this one makes up for it because it was exceptionally tasty, and the staff were really nice. We then sat at the bottom of the Eiffel tower drinking beer. We didn’t go up it but it was lovely to see it twinkling away. We managed to miss the last metro home (oops) and spent the next two and a half hours walking back – at least Paris is pretty at night!

Have the best day!
These pictures were taken on campus, me and James found a lovely wooded area that only dog walkers seem to visit. I’m going to keep it in mind for next time I want to go for a picnic! This outfit is all vintage, apart from my accessories. I bought the skirt from a vintage shop in Amsterdam, my top is from the vintage fair in York, the jacket is vintage from ebay (which I altered to my size) and my shoes are vintage, from Deep! I try to buy clothes that are either second hand or from shops that I know are ethically and environmentally conscious, but it gets so hard sometimes. My Topshop addiction is a hard one to quit. It was much easier to give up meat than it is to give up Topshop! It’s also really hard to know which shops are okay, and which aren’t. I wish someone would just give me a guidebook telling me which I should buy from.
It’s sunglasses time of year, yippee! These are from H&M – round sunglasses are my favourites. My big dangly earrings were a gift from two of my wonderful friends. I love how sparkly they are, they make me feel glamorous even when I’m wearing a fairly simple outfit.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday 🙂 If you’re in the UK, make sure you make time to enjoy this glorious weather! Unfortunately I’m still essay writing, and I find it excrutiatingly hard to concentrate outside, but I will defeninitely be having all of my meals on the picnic bench outside.
